One of Virginia’s main targets in the transfer portal, former Florida starting quarterback DJ Lagway, has committed to Baylor. The Cavaliers presently have no experienced quarterbacks returning for 2026, pending the NCAA’s decision on whether to grant another year of eligibility to UVA starter Chandler Morris.

Lagway visited Virginia this week then flew to Texas to meet with Baylor’s program and committed while he was in Waco, choosing the Bears over UVA, Florida State and Ole Miss.

It didn’t hurt Baylor’s chances that Lagway’s father, Derek, played for the Bears in the late 1990s.

During his visit to Waco, Lagway was seen at Baylor’s basketball game, sitting with Bears head coach Dave Aranda and offensive coordinator Jake Spavital. Fans at the game chanted “We want DJ,” which made the QB feel welcome.

Virginia has hosted or is presently hosting several players from the portal. We will update any news on commitments or new visits throughout the evening.
