Perris Jones asking for your help: here’s his GoFundMe page link

By Jerry Ratcliffe

Virginia running back Perris Jones needs your help in his rehabilitation and comeback from a terrible injury he suffered in the Louisville game on Nov. 9.

By now, you’ve seen Jones stand up from his wheelchair in the Louisville rehab center, and asked Wahoo fans to fill Scott Stadium last Saturday night. You were likely watching the game when he took a violent hit and didn’t get up, being rushed to the Louisville Medical Center, where he has received excellent care.

Now, it’s all about money, and that’s where Wahoo Nation can make a difference.

His mother, Andrea Shine, has started a GoFundMe page and is asking for help. Here is her message:

“My son, Perris Jones, a University of Virginia running back, was recently involved in a spinal injury during his football game against Louisville. Currently, he is starting his journey of recovery at a rehabilitation center, working on regaining the function of his hands after the life-altering injury.

“Although he is unable to step on the field to play again, his future is still bright. This GoFundMe is intended to support Perris as he figures out the next steps in his journey of recovery and independence. Thank you for being a source of strength, hope and support during this critical time in Perris’ life.”

Shine has set a $25,000 goal to aid Jones’ recovery, and as of Monday night, 82 donations totaling $4,315 have been contributed.
