No. 7 Virginia won eight of 11 races at the Ivy Invitational Saturday on Lake Carnegie in West Windsor, N.J. The Cavaliers took three races from No. 9 Brown in the morning and won five races against No. 17 Harvard in the afternoon.
Virginia won three of six races against No. 9 Brown and No. 11 Rutgers in the morning. UVA won the Varsity Four, Third Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Four. The Cavaliers topped runner-up Brown 8:00.488-8:01.888 in the V4, 7:40.80-7:55.653 in the 3V8 and 7:58.183-7:58.771 in the 3V4. UVA finished second behind Brown in the Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight. Rutgers captured the 3V4 race, defeating UVA by over 13 seconds.
In afternoon racing, the Cavaliers defeated Harvard in the Varsity Eight (6:45.953-7:05.107), Second Varsity Eight (7:18.762-7:36.959), Varsity Four (8:01.214-8:05.606) and Third Varsity Eight (7:21.182-7:49.974). UVA’s Second Varsity Four topped its Third Varsity Four (8:00.526-8:13.972) in the final race of the day.
The Cavaliers returns to Lake Carnegie for the Eisenberg Cup on April 18. UVA will race No. 3 Yale, No. 4 Tennessee and No. 6 Princeton.
