Swimming & Diving: No. 15 Virginia set to compete at NCAA Championships

The No. 15 Virginia men’s swimming & diving team will compete at the 2023 NCAA Championships from Wednesday through Saturday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
TIMELINE
Prelims each day (Thursday-Saturday) will begin at 10 a.m. and finals (Wednesday-Saturday) start at 6 p.m. each night.

ABOUT THESE HOOS
- Virginia has earned top-10 finishes in each of the last three NCAA Championships, matching the longest streak in program history.
- The Cavaliers return six All-Americans from the 2022 team that finished 10th at NCAAs.
- Junior Matt Brownstead led UVA with two top-four finishes last season, tying for third in the 50-yard freestyle and finishing fourth in the 100-yard freestyle.
- Sophomore Jack Aikins set a UVA record with his ninth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke at last year’s NCAAs.
- Browntead and Aikins, along with sophomore Connor Boyle return from UVA’s fourth-place 400-yard freestyle relay team.
- Junior Noah Nichols is the 2023 ACC Champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and was third at ACCs in the 200-yard breaststroke. Nichols owns the third-fastest time entering the 100 breast for the NCAA Championships.
- Sophomore Tim Connery had a breakout performance at the ACC Championships. Connery set UVA records in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM at ACCs.
- Senior August Lamb and senior Josh Fong both swam on UVA’s All-American relays at the 2022 NCAA Champions and will provide depth this season.

Wednesday: 200 medley relay, 800 free relay
Thursday: 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 free, 1-meter diving, 200 free relay
Friday: 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 3-meter diving, 400 medley relay
Saturday: 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, platform, 400 free relay
