Tale of the Tape: No. 1 UVA vs. No. 8 NC State

No. 1 seed Virginia tips off its 2019 ACC Tournament at 12:30 Thursday afternoon with a quarterfinal matchup against eighth-seeded NC State at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.

The Cavaliers (28-2) upended the Wolfpack (22-10) by a point in overtime in Raleigh in the schools’ only regular-season meeting back in January, 66-65.

NC State rallied to eliminate No. 9 seed Clemson on Wednesday.

Senior guard Torin Dorn leads NC State in scoring (13.6 ppg) and rebounds (7.1 rpg) on the season, while point guard Markell Johnson averages a dozen points a game and C.J. Bryce averages 11.4 ppg on a squad that puts up just over 80 points a game.

Thursday’s winner will advance to the ACC semifinals on Friday night.
