Virginia gained another late-night commitment Sunday, picking up Rutgers starting cornerback Jacobie Henderson, and the Cavaliers will get a visit today from Minnesota running back Fame Ijeboi.
It was a busy Sunday for UVA, adding Middle Tennessee running back Jekail Middlebrook and former Virginia Tech defensive back Christian Ellis (see related story on this site). In addition, Virginia backup quarterback Danny Kaelin and reserve running back Davis Lane entered the portal (see related story) and sources said that UVA offensive line coach Terry Heffernan will be hired as the new offensive coordinator at Stanford (see related story).
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers began to restock their secondary with the addition of Henderson, who has one year of eligibility remaining. The 5-foot-11, 198-pound cornerback started 12 games for the Scarlet Knights in 2025 and posted 42 tackles, 5 PBU and 3 TFL.
Virginia general manager Tyler Jones said recently that when scouting potential players out of the transfer portal, he and his staff pay particular attention to detail when that player produces on film, and Henderson did just that.
The corner made 7 tackles against Penn State last season, 6 tackles against No. 1 Ohio State and 4 tackles and a PBU against No. 8 Oregon during the season.
For his entire career, which also included two seasons at Marshall in 2023 and 2024, Henderson has 115 tackles and 2 interceptions.
In ‘24, he started 13 games for Marshall and was third-team, All-Sun Belt Conference after registering 50 tackles, 10 PBU and 2 picks. In ‘23, as a sophomore, Henderson played in 11 games for the Thundering Herd with six starts. He was redshirted in 2022.
Visiting UVA today is Minnesota’s Ijeboi, a 6-foot, 210-pound running back, who had 97 carries for 441 yards and 2 TDs last season for the Golden Gophers as a freshman.
Ijeboi announced via his Twitter on Sunday night that he would be in Charlottesville on Monday.
He was Minnesota’s second-leading rusher and started one game when regular starter Darius Taylor was injured.
In addition to rushing for 4.5 yards per carry last season, Ijeboi also caught 12 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. He was redshirted in 2024, but appeared in two games against Maryland and Virginia Tech.
Ijeboi is being courted by 21 schools, so an early visit is promising for Virginia.
