Virginia continued to build a strong 2027 recruiting class from the state’s high school ranks on Monday when 3-star wide receiver Landon Hicks announced his commitment to the Cavaliers.
Hicks chose UVA over Virginia Tech, JMU, Pitt, Syracuse, West Virginia, Wake Forest, ECU and others as he became the sixth in-state commitment out of seven overall commits to the ‘27 class.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver is ranked the No. 19 overall prospect in the state and the No. 114 wide receiver nationally by 247Sports.
Hicks visited UVA last weekend on Junior Day and said that because Tony Elliott’s staff was the first to offer him, it strongly resonated with him. A product of Manchester High School in Midlothian, he built a meaningful relationship with Virginia coaches during his recruitment and was impressed with how he fits into the Cavaliers’ offensive scheme.
Last season as a junior, Hicks made 33 catches for 578 yards and 9 touchdowns.
He is the second commitment from Manchester in the ‘27 class, along with defensive end Camden Chalkley.
UVA already has seven commits to the class, including Hicks and Chalkley, along with: Gene Jones, Derek Fisher, Sean Currie, Demarcus Brow and Lonnie Andrews.
