UVA gains commitment from Highland Springs defensive lineman Greene

Virginia has tapped into the Highland Springs football program to land a 3-star player from a strong football bloodline.

Miles Greene, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound defensive lineman for the Springers, announced on his Twitter account Monday that he had committed to UVA after an official visit to Charlottesville over the weekend. He chose the Cavaliers over offers from Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Maryland, Boston College, Duke, JMU and others.

Miles is the brother of former JMU All-American Mike Greene, who signed with the Tampa Bay Bucs last month as an undrafted free agent. His other brother, Malcolm Greene, is a junior cornerback at Clemson.

Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 27 overall prospect in the state, Greene is rated the No. 93 defensive lineman prospect in the country.

As a junior last season for the Springers, Greene posted 56 total tackles, including 30 solo, nine tackles for loss, five sacks and two PBUs.

He is the third in-state player to commit to Tony Elliott’s new UVA regime.
