Dean and Markel Families Men’s Head Basketball Coach Tony Bennett announced Wednesday the addition of guard Dante Harris to the Cavaliers’ program.

Harris (Washington, D.C.) has signed a financial aid agreement and is transferring to Virginia after playing two seasons at Georgetown.

“We are excited to add Dante to the Virginia basketball family,” Bennett said. “Dante is a talented guard, who brings valuable experience and leadership to our team. We look forward to having him join our program.”

The 6-0, 170-pound guard averaged 10 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 55 career games for the Hoyas from 2020-22. He shot 36.5 percent from the field and 79.8 percent from the free-throw line. Harris scored in double figures 20 times, including a pair of 20-point games. He averaged 11.9 points and 3.6 rebounds along with team-high in assists (118) as a sophomore in 2021-22.

Harris will enroll at UVA in the spring semester and have three years of eligibility beginning with the 2023-24 season.
