According to 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong, another Virginia football starter is intending to enter the transfer portal.

Wiltfong reported that UVA cornerback Fentrell Cypress II plans to enter the portal as a grad transfer. Cypress, who was just named to the All-ACC second team, will be the second Cavalier to enter the portal this week, joining starting quarterback Brennan Armstrong.

Cypress, from Rock Hill, S.C., started nine games for Virginia this past season. He led the ACC in passes broken up with 14 and was fourth in the nation in passes defended per game with 1.56 per game. He made 39 tackles this season.

Cypress’ departure would leave a hole in defensive coordinator John Rudzinski’s improved secondary with graduate Anthony Johnson’s end of eligibility. Johnson was a first-team All-ACC cornerback, meaning UVA would lose both of its starting corners.
