Virginia quarterbacks coach Taylor Lamb is slated to participate in the American Football Coaches Association 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute at the 2023 convention. Lamb was chosen from a pool from a field of over 150 applicants.

The AFCA 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute is a prestigious program aimed at identifying and developing premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession. Selected participants are invited to attend the one-day institute that features a curriculum of interactive lectures focused on topics specifically tailored to emphasize leadership in the coaching profession, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression, and family balance.

Lamb finished his first season working with the Cavalier signal callers on Fralin Family head coach Tony Elliott’s staff this fall. Lamb came to UVA after spending the previous two seasons as the quarterbacks coach at Gardner-Webb. He also was on staff at the University of South Carolina as a graduate assistant during the 2018 and 19 seasons.

A dual-threat quarterback in his playing days, Lamb had an exceptional career at Appalachian State. He finished his college career ranked first in Mountaineers’ history with 90 touchdown passes in 51 games (49 starts). He also ranked first in Sun Belt Conference history by the end of his time in Boone. Lamb passed for nearly 10,000 yards (9,786), rushed for 2,008 yards and accounted for 113 total touchdowns. He finished his time at Appalachian State second to Armanti Edwards in the school’s record books with 11,794 yards of total offense and 36 wins.

Members of the 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute receive a stipend to assist with expenses incurred while attending the AFCA Convention. They will be published in AFCA Magazine, AFCA Insider weekly email blast, and/or have their articles and videos added to the AFCA Educational Library. Additionally, participants will be placed on the AFCA Foundation Committee and become a part of a prestigious network of rising coaches in the profession along with many other great benefits.
