Virginia gains fifth commitment of week with Richmond RB Davis
By Jerry Ratcliffe
Virginia added its fifth commitment of the week over the weekend when Richmond running back Xay Davis announced on social media that he will become a Cavalier.
Davis is a 6-foot, 185-pound prospect from Collegiate School, where he posted 908 yards in 2023 — 412 rushing, 496 receiving — along with four touchdowns.
He committed to Virginia over Coastal Carolina, ODU, Dartmouth, Princeton, Cornell and others. He is not rated by any of the major recruiting services. UVA running backs coach Keith Gaither was his main recruiter.
Davis is a three-sport athlete who also plays basketball and runs track. He is the only running back committed to the 2025 class so far.
UVA’s 11th commitment joins Isaiah Reese, Justin Rowe, Donovan Robinson and Willem Thurber, all to have joined the Cavaliers over the past week.
