Virginia makes “final 8” list for ’22 wing, ’23 point guard

uva basketballVirginia has made the cut for two valued high school basketball prospects who hold offers from Tony Bennett’s Cavaliers.

Ryan Dunn, a 6-foot-7 wing from New York, and point guard Caleb Foster of Oak Hill Academy, both announced on Twitter accounts Wednesday that Virginia had made their final eight.

Dunn, a member of the 2022 recruiting class, said his list of eight schools include UVA, Boston College, Minnesota, Georgetown, Maryland, Pitt, Oklahoma State and South Carolina.

The top 50 prospect finished his high school career in New York but has since enrolled in a prep school in Pennsylvania. He is considered a late bloomer, who received his first scholarship offer in early July by Boston College. Virginia offered in late July.

Dunn is the younger brother of Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Justin Dunn.

Meanwhile, Foster, a member of the 2023 recruiting class, was ranked No. 17 on ESPN’s top 25 sophomores in the nation last season.

Foster’s list of final eight schools were: Virginia, Auburn, Stanford, Duke, Wake, Louisville, Clemson and Charlotte. He eliminated several schools: NC State, Georgia, Texas Tech, South Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Memphis and others.
