Justin FuenteVirginia Tech football coach Justin Fuente is out after six years on the job.

Tech athletic director Whit Babcock said that co-defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator J.C. Price will take over as interim head coach for the Hokies’ final two games: at Miami this weekend and at rival Virginia, to close out the season.

Fuente has been on the hot seat for the past two seasons and Monday, he and the school mutually agreed to part ways.

“While it is never easy to make a change, I believe in order for our football program to attain the type of sustained success that is expected at Virginia Tech, the time was right for new leadership of our football program,” Babcock said in a statement.

Babcock added that Virginia Tech is “one of the most attractive football jobs in America.”

Fuente was 43-31 with Tech and presently stand 5-5 heading into the Miami game.
