Virginia women’s golfer Rebecca Skoler repeated as the medalist at the 72nd Massachusetts Women’s Stroke Play Championship for the Baker Trophy Wednesday at The Ridge Club in Sandwich, Mass. Skoler had rounds of 70 and 72 to finish at even par 142, four strokes ahead of the runner-up Shannon Johnson who had won the event five times.

Skoler’s win at the tournament in 2021 marked the first time a teenager had won the event since former Cavalier All-American Brittany Altomare took home the title in 2005.

Next week, Skoler, who just completed her sophomore season at UVA, will compete at the Women’s Amateur Championship at Hunstanton, England. The tournament runs June 20-25. Earlier this year she helped Virginia to a 15th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
