Virginia’s recruiting roll continued on Wednesday night when Coach Tony Elliott got the program’s fourth commitment in three days, both of the latest two from the state of Georgia.

Jaylin Lackey, a 6-foot, 185-pound cornerback from South Gwinnett High in Snellville, Ga., announced his commitment on Twitter. He was one of a dozen of UVA’s high-target visitors to make official visits last weekend, and thus far, the Cavaliers have hauled in four of those prospects.

Lackey is a three-star prospect and had 27 offers, choosing Virginia over Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Appalachian State, Cincinnati, Kentucky, JMU, North Dakota State, Pitt, Liberty, ECU, UConn, Charlotte and others.

UVA was his only official visit and clearly Lackey liked what he saw, so much that he decided not to check out other places.

With 4.47 speed in the 40-yard dash and 10.8 in the 100 meters, he had 30 tackles and two interceptions his junior season, plus 206 yards and four touchdowns receiving.

He is rated the No. 56 corner in the nation and the No. 72 overall prospect in the state of Georgia by 247Sports composite rankings. On3.com ranks him No. 65 and No. 93, respectively.

Earlier in the day, UVA gained a commitment from Georgia pass rusher Chase Morrison (see related story). Lackey is Virginia’s seventh commitment for the recruiting class of 2024.
