Virginia football has gained its first high school commitment for the recruiting class of 2024 in Ethan Minter, a three-star athlete from Thomas Dale in Chester.

Minter, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound left-handed quarterback for Dale, is expected to play wide receiver or safety at UVA. He chose the Cavaliers over offers from Virginia Tech, JMU, Liberty, Maryland and ODU.

First offered by Bronco Mendenhall’s staff, Minter was again offered by Tony Elliott’s staff in early December. He visited Charlottesville on March 25 and committed Thursday.

Minter ranks as the No. 29 overall prospect in the state by the 247Sports composite, the No. 123 athlete in the country and the No. 1,113 overall prospect in the nation.
