Weekly Gridiron Picks Sponsored By Riverside Lunch: Week 14
Heading into the final week of the Pigskin Picks season, Hootie is sitting on a four-game lead, which is like Tiger Woods sitting on a four-shot lead heading into the final round of a major. Well, almost.
The rest of the prognosticators are waiting on ol’ Hoots to choke. If that’s the case, then Mark Mincer, who has been on Hootie’s heels for the past few weeks, is ready to pounce and claim the championship, which means that Hootie will have to take Mincer out for dinner, and we all know how cheap Hootie is, so lots of luck. Mincer might have to supply a T-shirt from his store declaring Hootie as king of the prognosticators.
All this means that everyone else is likely duking it out for third place as Scott German and Scott Ratcliffe, presently tied for third (nine games back), will be trying to play the “upset” card. Chris Graham of Augusta Free Press and Gary Shook, president of Blue Ridge Bank, are three games back of third and our contest sponsor, Lee Shifflett, of Riverside Lunch, will also join the others in peering into their crystal ball to come up with enough upset picks to jump up the totem pole.
It’s your last chance to claim our weekly prize — a gift certificate to Riverside for the best burgers in town — as well as to join our 13 other winners who have qualified for the Grand Prize bowl pick’em contest. What are you waiting for? Send us your picks today!

How to Play:
We’ll pick every ACC game, plus the best of the rest from around college football (20 total games). Fans can submit their own picks (sent to weeklygridironpicks@gmail.com, with “WEEK 14 PICKS” in the subject line) no later than 11:59 a.m. ET Thursday.
Tiebreaker:
Predict the score of the UVA game: Fans will predict the final score (i.e. Virginia 35, Virginia Tech 21 … that fan’s total score for the tiebreaker would be 56). The fan whose total score is closest to the actual total score will be declared the winner. If somehow two or more fans have the same total score (or are the same distance from the total score), the fan who is closer to UVA’s score will win.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You MUST include a tiebreaker with your entry, or it will not be eligible to win.
Prizes:
The weekly winner will receive a gift certificate from Riverside Lunch and will automatically qualify to compete for the grand prize during bowl season. Only one spot remains! If a fan is named the weekly winner, he/she may still compete in the remaining weekly contests, but will not be eligible again for the weekly prize.
Week 14 Picks:
Once a weekly fan winner is determined, we will contact them via the email address they used to submit their picks to redeem their prize!
Weekly Winners:
Congratulations to Darren McCauley, our Week 13 winner! ….
Darren receives a Riverside Lunch gift certificate and is entered into our Grand Prize bowl pick’em contest. Again, we’re down to just one more spot to compete for the grand prize, so get your picks in today!
