Margot Appleton of Virginia’s women’s cross-country team has been selected to the All-ACC Academic Team.
Appleton claims the honor after an impressive freshman campaign. The Massachusetts native finished as the runner-up at the XC23 Invitational with a 5k time of 17:13.8 earning her the first ACC weekly honor of her career. She also led Virginia in the ACC Cross-Country Championships running a time of 21:05.8 in the 6k.
Appleton’s freshman cross-country season culminated with a personal best performance in the 6k at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships where her time of 20:57.4 earned her a 26th place finish.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
