Women’s Lacrosse: Four Hoos earn All-ACC honors

Virginia women’s lacrosse had four players named to the 2023 All-ACC Teams, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Graduate student Ashlyn McGovern and sophomore Rachel Clark both earned first team honors and junior Morgan Schwab and junior Aubrey Williams were named to the second team.
Clark moved into second in the ACC and fifth in the NCAA with 57 goals to lead the Cavaliers. She moved ahead of teammate McGovern with five goals in UVA’s win over Virginia Tech. Clark has scored multiple goals in 13 games with hat tricks in 11 of those. She also has 11 assists with multiple assists in three games this season. Clark is averaging 3.56 goals per game to rank 12th nationally. She leads UVA with five game-winning goals in 2023.
McGovern carries UVA’s attack on the left side of the field, owning 55 goals this season to rank third in the ACC and eighth in the NCAA. The attacker leads the Cavaliers with 14 multiple goal games and 12 hat tricks. She has scored a goal in all but one contest this season. McGovern matched a career-high with seven goals in the win over Clemson. This season, she moved into the UVA top 10 in goals (third with 198 career goals) and points (ninth – 217 career points).
Schwab has been the key distributor for UVA behind the goal. She is fifth in the ACC and eighth nationally with 39 assists this season. That ranks second all-time in a season at UVA for a junior. She currently has 88 career assists to rank sixth all-time at Virginia. Schwab has dished out multiple assists in 10 games. She had a season-high six assists at Richmond and has had five assists in the games.
Williams has been dominant on the draw control this season. She is second in the ACC and eighth overall in draws per game (8.00). She moved into the all-time lead with 326 career draw controls so far at UVA. Williams matched a career-high and UVA single-game record of 15 draw controls in the win at VCU. She has double-digit draw controls in four games and eight or more in 10.
