Women’s notebook: UVA closes regular season at Miami Sunday

The Virginia women’s basketball team plays its final game of the 2022-23 regular season at Miami on Sunday at noon at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla.

VIRGINIA NOTES
- Camryn Taylor led the team in scoring and rebounding at Clemson, scoring 15 points. It was her 10th time finishing with double-digit points in the last 11 games
- Taylor had nine rebounds against the Tigers, seven of which were O-boards
- UVA (15-13, 4-13 ACC) had 18 offensive rebounds against Clemson and has moved back into the ACC lead in that statistical category, averaging 14.5 per game, which ranks 25th in the nation
- Taylor is seventh in the ACC in field-goal shooting percentage, making 46.4 percent of her attempts
- Taylor Valladay had five steals against Clemson, matching Mir McLean for most by a Cavalier in a game this season
- Valladay had four assists on Thursday, putting her over 100 assists in a season for the first time in her career, with 103 this year
- Valladay ranks sixth in the ACC in assists per game with 3.8 and is eighth with a 1.43 assist-to-turnover ratio
- Valladay has scored in double figures in each of her last four games, averaging 15.8 points per game in that span
- Freshman Cady Pauley scored a career-high 12 points, making four 3-pointers against Clemson. It was her second double-digit scoring game of the year. It was her first time scoring since hitting three 3s at Notre Dame on Jan. 22. Pauley played 18 minutes against Clemson after playing a combined 20 minutes in the previous six contests
- McKenna Dale has scored in double figures in each of the last two games, with 10 against Duke and 12 at Clemson
- Dale is averaging 5.3 points per game overall this season but is averaging 8.5 points per game in the last eight contests
- Virginia had four players finish the Clemson game in doubles figures in points (Taylor, Dale, Pauley and Valladay) and had four players with four or more assists (Valladay, Kaydan Lawson, Alexia Smith and Yonta Vaughn)
- The Cavaliers are third in the ACC in rebounding margin at plus-6.3 and are third in rebounds per game at 42.1 (ranking 25th in the nation)
SCOUTING MIAMI
- This is Miami’s Senior Day game
- The Hurricanes (17-11, 10-7) have lost three of their last four games, including back-to-back games at Syracuse and Louisville
