Emma Navarro named ACC Co-Freshman of the Week

Virginia women’s tennis player Emma Navarro (Charleston, S.C.) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Freshman of the Week as announced Tuesday by the conference.
Navarro improved to 5-0 in singles to start her collegiate career by topping No. 3 Alexa Graham in the ACC opener against North Carolina. Navarro, who was ranked No. 80 in singles to start the season, bounced back from being edged 7-5 in the first set to take the second 6-3 and force a super tiebreaker which she won 10-7.
This is her third ACC Freshman of the Week honor after also earning it Jan. 26 and Feb. 2 when she additionally was named the ACC Player of the Week. Her teammate Hibah Shaikh (Teaneck, N.J.) earned the accolade last week (Feb. 16).
