Women’s Tennis: No. 6 Virginia posts 6-1 victory at Louisville

The No. 6 Virginia women’s tennis team closed out the weekend with a 6-1 win at Louisville on Sunday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

Junior Elaine Chervinsky and sophomore Meggie Navarro set the early tone for the Cavaliers (10-2) with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Senior Hibah Shaikh and grad student Natasha Subhash clinched the point with a 6-1 win at No. 1.

Chervinsky had an equally dominant win in singles, going 6-0, 6-1 to put UVA up 2-0. Sophomore Annabelle Xu and senior Sara Ziodato both posted 6-4, 6-1 wins on two and four to make it 4-0. Louisville (4-5) picked up a point with a straight-set win at six before Shaikh and Subhash closed out their victories for the 6-1 final.

Virginia has a second straight road trip, playing at Georgia Tech on Friday and at Clemson on Sunday. UVA will play its first home match since Jan. 27 on Friday, March 22, when it hosts Syracuse
