Virginia basketball has made the cut list for another 4-star prospect the Cavaliers have offered in New Jersey combo guard Elijah Gertrude.

The 6-foot-3 guard from Hudson Catholic in Jersey City told Joe Tipton of On3 that his final list consists of Virginia, Kansas, Seton Hall, St. John’s and Rutgers. Gertrude has visited all those schools except Kansas.

He eliminated Syracuse, Pitt, Iona, St. Bonaventure and others from his list of suitors.

“These five schools have done a great job recruiting me and I want to thank the coaches for doing so,” Gertrude told On3. “I’m looking forward to continue building relationships.”

Rated the No. 9 prospect in New Jersey and the No. 27 combo guard in the nation, Gertrude, who took his official visit to UVA last week, is expected to announce his final decision in late September.

UVA coach Tony Bennett saw Gertrude live twice during the summer, while Jason Williford also took in some of the guard’s games.
