Emma Navarro has advanced to the third round of the 2021 NCAA Women’s Tennis Singles Championship with a victory on Monday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

Navarro (Charleston, S.C.), the No. 3 seed in the 64-player championship, rebounded from a 6-1 loss in her first set against Ilze Hattingh of Arizona State to win the second two 7-5 and 6-0 to advance. She will take on Meg Kowalski of Georgia in Tuesday’s Round of 16.

Sophomore Natasha Subhash (Fairfax, Va.), a 9-16 seed, faced North Carolina’s Alexa Graham on Monday in a second-round match. Subhash won the first set in a tiebreaker 8-6, but fell 6-7 (6), 6-0, 6-1, to be eliminated from the tournament.

Both Navarro and Subhash earn ITA All-America honors in singles by virtue of their seeding in the tournament. This is Subhash’s second-straight year earning All-America honors.
