The first person I called as soon as I learned that Ryan Odom had hired Adrian Autry as an assistant coach, was Seth Greenberg.
Greenberg, who had Odom and Autry on his staff at the same time at Virginia Tech, had just touched down in Indianapolis for the Final Four on Thursday afternoon and returned my call as soon as he deboarded.
Greenberg, who is as well-connected in the college basketball world as anyone, believes Odom made a home run hire.
“Adrian Autry is as good a person, is as hard a worker and has as much feel for the game as anybody I’ve ever worked with,” Greenberg said. “No doubt he will be a tremendous asset in whatever role he is given and help build on last year’s success.”
