Virginia adds grad transfer Alana Walker

Middle hitter Alana Walker has signed grant-in-aid documents and will enroll at UVA this summer. She will have one of year of eligibility remaining.

Walker (Chicago, Ill.) graduated from Northwestern this past spring with a degree in learning and organizational change from the school of education and social policy. Walker played in 106 career matches for the Wildcats and recorded 741 career kills. She led Northwestern with 101 blocks in 2019 and again in 2018 with 125. Walker was third on Northwestern’s team with 237 kills in 2019 and after finishing third on the team with 229 kills in 2018. She set a Northwestern first-year record in hitting percentage in 2017 (.297), which ranked seventh among Big Ten freshmen.

Walker attended Whitney Young High School where she led played four years and led the Dolphins to a city, conference, and regional championship. She is the daughter of Donna Grant and former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker. Her father won an NCAA men’s basketball championship at Kentucky and an NBA title with the Miami Heat.
