Virginia head coach Sara O’Leary announced Tuesday the addition of Sara Ziodato (Trieste, Italy) to the women’s tennis team.

Ziodato transferred to the University after playing her freshman season at Baylor. Ziodato reached a career-high ITF Junior Ranking of No. 75 in 2019. She was won three junior singles and three junior doubles titles. In 2018, she won a pair of Grade 4 junior singles titles in 2018, the Slovenian Junior Open and the Justine Henin Junior Cup, also taking the doubles title at the latter. Ziodato has played at both the Junior French Open and Junior Wimbledon. Last season for the Bears, she played on the bottom three courts in singles, compiling a 2-2 record. She had a 2-1 record at No. 3 doubles.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sara to the UVA Tennis family,” O’Leary said. “We have had the pleasure of getting to know her and her family throughout our recruiting process and it is clear that her goals and values align with ours. She is going to be a great addition to our program and we can’t wait to see her compete in the orange and blue!”
