Virginia multi-time All-Americans and NCAA champions Alex and Gretchen Walsh have been named as two of the four finalists for the Class of 2024 Honda Sport Award for Swimming & Diving.

For the fourth consecutive season, the top-ranked Virginia women’s swimming and diving team won the NCAA Championship.

The No. 1 Virginia women’s swimming & diving team – the three-time reigning NCAA Champions – had a program-record 18 swimmers qualify for the 2024 NCAA Championships.

The Virginia women’s program won its fifth consecutive conference title and smashed the league’s all-time championship scoring mark in the process.

It was another record-setting night for UVA standout Gretchen Walsh Thursday, and she was joined at the top of the medal podium by two other Cavaliers who claimed individual titles.

USA Swimming, the National Governing Body for the sport of swimming in the United States, announced that Todd DeSorbo and Anthony Nesty will be the head coaches of the U.S. women’s and men’s swim teams, respectively, at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
