Virginia men’s swimming & diving set a UVA record and finished eighth in the 200-yard medley relay on Wednesday night at the 2023 NCAA Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.

The No. 15 Virginia men’s swimming & diving team will compete at the 2023 NCAA Championships from Wednesday through Saturday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn.

The Virginia women’s swimming & diving team became the fifth program to win three consecutive NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday night at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn.

Kate Douglass led a stacked field in the 100-yard butterfly to win the NCAA Championship and set a NCAA, American and US Open record. Gretchen Walsh matched the feat with the same records in the 100-yard backstroke.

Sophomore Jack Aikins, junior Matt Brownstead, sophomore Tim Connery, senior Josh Fong, senior August Lamb and junior Noah Nichols earned selection for the championships. Senior Max Edwards was selected as an alternate.

Sophomore Lizzy Kaye finished first on the 3-meter and senior Jenn Bell made it a one-two Virginia finish on the first day at the NCAA Zone A Championships in Morgantown, W.Va.

Sophomore Gretchen Walsh was named ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week after leading the No. 1 Virginia women’s swimming & diving team to wins over No. 4 NC State and No. 19 North Carolina over the weekend.
