The Virginia baseball program elected six new members to its Hall of Fame on Friday night (Jan. 29) at the program’s virtual Step Up to the Plate fundraising event. A formal induction ceremony will be announced at a later date.

Virginia was one of 12 schools in the country to have multiple players on the D1Baseball Preseason All-America team after outfielder Chris Newell (Newtown Square, Pa.) and relief pitcher Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md.) were listed on the first and third teams

First year outfielder Chris Newell was named the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National co-Freshman of the Year on Tuesday. Classmate Max Cotier joined him on the publication’s Freshman All-America Team.

Sophomore Zack Gelof and freshman Chris Newell were both named Second Team All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper on Tuesday.

Virginia won its first Atlantic Coast Conference series of the season with a 10-3 game-three victory over No. 7 NC State on Sunday at Disharoon Park. It marked the Cavaliers first series win over the Wolfpack (13-2, 1-2 ACC) since 2013.

Virginia opened up Atlantic Coast Conference play on Friday evening with a 7-3 win over previously unbeaten and seventh-ranked NC State at Disharoon Park. The Cavaliers are now winners of seven straight games and improve to 10-1 on their current 15-game home stand.

Virginia notched its sixth-consecutive win with a 16-7 win over Richmond on Tuesday evening at Disharoon Park. The Cavalier offense produced 10 or more runs for the sixth time in the last eight games.

Virginia will be home on Tuesday to host Richmond in a non-conference tilt at Disharoon Park. The game is scheduled to air on ACCNX with first pitch slated for 3 p.m.

Virginia scored seven runs in its first turn at the plate and never looked back in a 20-1 win over Dartmouth on Friday evening at Disharoon Park.

Virginia erased two early deficits in an 8-5 victory over William & Mary on Tuesday evening at Disharoon Park. For the Cavaliers, it was their third come-from-behind win through the first nine games of the season.

One can only imagine what kind of double takes occur when first-time recruits and visitors are shown Virginia baseball’s film room at Disharoon Park.

Virginia clinched its four-game series against Bucknell with a 12-3 victory in the series finale at Disharoon Park on Sunday. The Cavaliers (5-3) posted double-digit runs on the scoreboard for the third-straight game.

Virginia totaled 24 runs in two games and earned a doubleheader split with Bucknell on Saturday at Disharoon Park. The Cavaliers took the opener 14-3 before having a comeback fall short in the nightcap, a 14-10 setback.

Virginia held on to a 6-5 victory in the opening game of a four-game series against Bucknell on Friday evening at Disharoon Park.

Virginia plated all four of its runs in the seventh inning to complete a 4-3 come-from-behind win over VMI in the home opener at Disharoon Park Wednesday.

The Cavaliers, who host VMI at 3 p.m., will open up a 15-game home stand, including a four-game home series against Bucknell later in the week.

In Pensacola, Fla., Oklahoma swept a doubleheader to earn the series victory over Virginia on Saturday.
