The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that the Virginia Tech at Virginia men’s basketball game has been postponed. The game was scheduled to be played on Saturday.

After getting punched in the face early and often in a lopsided loss to No. 1 Gonzaga last Saturday, a couple of areas were disturbing to Virginia coach Tony Bennett about his team.

Longtime CBS basketball analyst Bill Raftery wants to see Tony Bennett’s team a month from now once the UVA coach has figured out his personnel, chemistry, deep bench and that some of the newer faces have learned Bennett’s system.

Tony Bennett knew his team was in over its head early on in Saturday’s 98-75 loss to No. 1 Gonzaga. During an intense halftime, when 16th-ranked Virginia trailed 44-31 –  helped by its own 7-0 run to reach the half – the Cavaliers coach implored his team to fight.

No. 17 Virginia (3-1) will play top-ranked Gonzaga (3-0) in a nonconference game on Saturday, Dec. 26 in Fort Worth, Texas.

No. 17 Virginia (3-1) will return to practice on Saturday, Dec. 19 after pausing all basketball-related activities on Dec. 9 due to COVID-19 issues within its program.

According to Matt Norlander, of CBS Sports, Virginia’s game with Villanova will not be played as scheduled.

Virginia’s showdown with Villanova is on for Saturday at Madison Square Garden, assuming the Cavaliers don’t have any more Covid-19 issues the rest of the week.

While details are pending on Virginia’s decision to pause all men’s basketball activity until further notice, at least one of the Cavaliers players tested positive for Covid-19, which forced the school to postpone Wednesday night’s game with Michigan State.

No. 18 Virginia’s ACC/B1G Challenge contest against No. 4 Michigan State on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at John Paul Jones Arena has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the Cavaliers’ program.

Virginia was down four to visiting Kent State a few nights ago and Wahoo fans were starting to sweat.

No. 18 Virginia (3-1) will host William & Mary on Sunday, Dec. 13. Tipoff at John Paul Jones Arena is set for 6 p.m. The game will be televised on ACC Network and broadcast on the Virginia Sports Radio Network.

A different shade of flashes pushed 15th-ranked Virginia to its limits Friday night before the Cavaliers regained their poise and escaped a real scare.

It will be interesting to see what starting lineup Tony Bennett decides on for tonight’s home game against Kent State (6 p.m., ACC Network).

When Anthony Gill suited up for Tony Bennett’s team four years ago, he wasn’t asked to shoot from long range. The Cavaliers had plenty of others to take care of dropping bombs on the opposition.

Before Tuesday afternoon’s home opener for Virginia basketball, several of the Cavaliers basketball players chose to kneel as the national anthem played.
